In the Classroom!

Fun with Limericks!

There once was a naughty young fool
Who was distastefully expelled from school
So he shed a tear
To his Mother Dear
And she let him play in the pool

In Spelling we will be on pages 49-52. This is the "Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins" unit.
The focus is on the consonant sounds of /j/, /ks/, /sk/, and /s/. Please study a little each day!

In our story, Poppy, Poppy just barely escapes the talons of Mr. Ocax. As she returns home, she realizes that there has been a very important family meeting called. As we read chapters 4-8 we will learn why Lungwort called a family meeting and why he so desperately needs to meet with Mr. Ocax. Will Poppy continue to be brave? Will Lungwort lead his family in a courageous way?

We're studying similes and metaphors in poetry.

Soccer
The ball is like a car,
When it spins around.
As if it handles like a dream,
And speeds across the ground.
                   James Cruikshank

The SCA is like a brawl with melees and battles.
Quite a lot of them all.
Quite an amazing tale, I want to tell you all.
But sadly, like life, it must come to an end.
                        Liam Chirrey

I love the sound of babies cooing,
It is as soothing as roses blowing in the wind.
I love the sound of pom-poms moving.
It is as loud as hail in a storm on a metal house.
                               Julia Waldo

The Derp Monster
The Derp Monster was as derpy as a derp mistake.
His nose was like a trumpet.
He was as annoying as a baby.
He was like a child.
P.S. He is as dead as a door nail.
